Child Guidance & Family Solutions has programs for children and adults
There are many signs that a person may have Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. Some of the more noticeable signs are restlessness, difficulty paying attention and trouble following rules. ADHD affects over 7 million people in the United States. It hinders parts of the brain that help a person slow down and concentrate on their surroundings. Although medications usually help, studies have shown that medication partnered with behavioral therapy has shown greater improvements than medication alone. Child Guidance & Family Solutions’ programs are designed to help both children and adults who may suffer from ADHD.
The ADHD programs at Child Guidance & Family Solutions help children, adolescents and adults exhibiting developmentally inappropriate levels of inattention, impulsivity and/or hyperactivity. After accurate diagnosis, the child or adult will receive behavior therapy, individual counseling and the program’s medical director or family doctor will prescribe the required medication. To help with social interaction, he or she may participate in several Child Guidance & Family Solutions therapeutic groups.
Child Guidance & Family Solutions staff educates families and teachers about the symptoms, diagnosis, causes and various treatments for ADHD. Parents and teachers learn the need for a schedule and routine as well as a system of clear rewards and consequences for children with ADHD.
Many adults with ADHD don’t know they have it and may seek help for other problems they mistake the symptoms for, such as dyslexia. ADHD in adults can make normal life difficult. They may have trouble staying focused at work and difficulty in their relationships. People with ADHD can still be treated well after adolescence. Regardless of age, he or she will benefit greatly from the treatments that Child Guidance & Family Solutions provides.
The overall goal of the ADHD program is to help adults and children improve their attention span, concentration and impulse control. This enables them to succeed in school or work, at home and in relationships. Child Guidance & Family Solutions helps adults and children with ADHD have a brighter future.
