Child Guidance & Family Solutions’ Supervisor reconnects with former intern, now President of the Ohio School Counselor Association
Professional counselors from around the state gathered in Columbus on November 1-3 for the All Ohio Counselors Conference. This conference is co-sponsored by the Ohio Counseling Association and the Ohio School Counselor Association. What a small world it is as CG&FS’s own Thelma Greaser who is the current President of the Ohio Counseling Association began the planning process for this year’s conference with her counterpart from the Ohio School Counselor Association. Ms. Greaser found herself renewing an old relationship with the President of the Ohio School Counselor Association, Kelley Schubert. Turns out Ms. Schubert completed her internship at CG&FS under Ms. Greaser’s supervision.
In addition to Ms. Greaser’s involvement with the Conference, many of our staff members shared their knowledge and experience through the following presentations:
“After the Story is Told: Helping Adolescents Recover from Trauma”
Nora Cord, MA,PCC, Former CG&FS Staff and Megan Rogers, MA, PCC, Trauma Specialist, CG&FS.
“Enhancing the Supervisory Process Through the Use of Sandtray”
Christin Carrabine, PCC, Dawn Carter, PCC, Laura Bruneau, PC, Jessica Reno, PC, all of CG&FS
“Creating Connections: Screening and Referral for Co-Occurring Disorders in Adolescents”

“Sharing the Miracle: Using the Miracle Question in Counseling”

As a result of the Conference, Christin Carrabine, Dawn Carter, Laura Bruneau and Jessica Reno will be making an additional presentation on the use of sandtray to Jewish Family Services. Although sandtray has been primarily used in counseling sessions with clients, it can also serve as a powerful tool when used in supervision sessions. While highlighting the research and clinical experiences of the presenters, these professional counselors have an interactive forum addressing how the use of sandtray in supervision can enhance case conceptualization, counselor development, and the supervisory process.
