INTENSIVE COMMUNITY PSYCHIATRIC SUPPORT PROGRAM
Child Guidance & Family Solutions is committed to serving the severely emotionally disturbed child in the least restrictive setting. We want to help families keep their child at home. We know that managing a very disturbed child's behavior is difficult. Often many agencies and organizations are involved, making it confusing to arrange services. Part of the intensive community psychiatric support worker's (ICPS) job is to help families connect to the right system so they can get the services they need for their child. They also help the child transition into the adult mental health system when the youth turns 18 years old. ISCP workers provide the following:
ASSESSMENT --- identifying the child's and family's strengths and needs
PLANNING --- developing a service plan with the child and family, which includes arranging for services, setting up staffings and working with other community agencies
LINKING --- connecting the child to needed services both within Child Guidance & Family Solutions and in the community
ADVOCATING --- advocating with other organizations and the school for the most appropriate service for the child
MONITORING --- reviewing the child's progress and the appropriateness of services provided
IN-HOME SUPPORT WORKER
This person provides intense, short term (30 -90 days) support to the child and parent in the home. She assists the parent by offering support, teaching behavior management skills and showing by example ways to manage the child's behavior.
