ICT History
The ICT model was developed in response to the need for integrated and comprehensive services for youth with co-occurring disorders. In 1999, with the support of the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Ohio Department of Youth Services, the Center for Family Studies at The University of Akron convened a group of experts to develop a program especially designed for adolescents with co-occurring disorders and their families. The Center for Family Studies has piloted the program at Child Guidance & Family Solutions since 2001.
In collaboration with the Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board and Summit County Juvenile Court.
Developing Solutions Together
• Youth
• Family
• Community
Integrated Co-Occurring Treatment (ICT) is an integrated treatment approach imbedded in an intensive home-based model of service delivery, that serves youth with the co-occurring conditions of substance abuse and serious emotional disability.
Youth, family, and members of their support network meet on an average 2-4 times per week with their ICT therapist for a duration of 3-6 months to develop and achieve the individualized goals based on their needs. ICT is a family-centered, strengths based, community-oriented treatment.
