We will help your class function with school-based counseling, therapeutic groups and support services that weave together schools, children and families.

The Need
Teachers and classrooms become frustrated when too much school time is spent on discipline and not teaching and learning. Sometimes disciplinary actions aren’t enough. Behavior problems can also lead to the suspension of a student who may have benefited from Child Guidance & Family Solutions Outreach Program. Our proven school-based outreach programs may be the solution. Here’s how we can help.

The Approach
Our dedicated and professional staff understand a teacher’s frustration when dealing with student behavioral challenges when so many other students’ classroom learning may be at stake. Our track record of proven methods enables us to assess, support, measure and manage children with behavioral issues while being on-site and available for intervention and prevention. Rather than only providing care to children who may be our client, we take time in the classroom to help children build skills around their emotions and behavior. Everyone benefits and our system helps to prevent other behavior issues from occurring. Prevention is key.

School-Based Counseling
Child Guidance & Family Solutions provides therapists who are available for on-site counseling at the school. Children facing emotional, behavioral and social difficulties most often need in-school support for timely crisis intervention. The school-based therapist is also able to provide case management services, group counseling and teacher consultation.

Our school-based therapist will link the schools, teachers and parents to give the child the best tools to overcome challenges. The therapist can also connect the child with other needed resources, such as respite, medication, targeted group therapy and other services. To learn more, call (330) 762-0591.

Therapeutic Groups
Child Guidance & Family Solutions is the largest provider of therapeutic groups for schools in Summit County. Therapeutic groups are an ideal method of addressing the emotional, social and behavioral challenges shared by different children. The group atmosphere is conducive for the practice of social interaction and to also learn that others experience the same difficulties. Therapeutic groups are available school days, after-school and during the summer.

Examples of therapeutic groups include:
• Anger Management
• Positive Daily Living
• Emotional Skills Training
• Family Transitions
• General Wellness
