Child Guidance & Family Solutions (CG&FS) is pleased to announce that Steven Jewell, MD, DLFAPA, Pediatric Psychiatrist, has been elected to serve as president for the Ohio Psychiatric Physicians Association (OPPA). The OPPA is a medical specialty society with more than 1,000 psychiatric physician members located throughout Ohio. Dedicated to promoting the highest quality care for people with mental disorders and to serving the professional needs of Ohio's psychiatric physicians, the OPPA advocates for patients and its members, while working to improve access to psychiatric services.

As president of the OPPA, Dr. Jewell will preside over its work to advance the standards of all psychiatric services and facilities; promote research, professional education in psychiatry and allied fields, and the prevention of psychiatric disabilities; and educate members, other health professionals and the public regarding prevention and treatment of mental illness.

“I am honored and humbled to be elected the next president of the Ohio Psychiatric Physicians Association, now its 65th year of existence. I look forward to representing and protecting the interests of practicing psychiatrists in the state of Ohio over the coming year, and encourage the entire membership to join me and the OPPA leadership in that task. The practice of psychiatry in Ohio has never been so diverse and vibrant, and the future more bright than it is right now, and we will do all we can to make sure that continues!”
