Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
Suicide is the third-leading cause of death for 15- to 24-year-olds, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), after accidents and homicide. This September we can help prevent suicide by spreading awareness during Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and remembering those who chose to take their lives.
Educate yourself, your friends, and your family during Suicide Prevention Awareness Month:
- Know the risks and warning signs
- Learn how you can take preventative measures
- Be observant: if you suspect someone needs help know what you can do
If you or someone you know is contemplating suicide, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255), text the crisis hotline at 741-741, or call our 24/7 Access line at 877-796-3555.
