Evaluation and Assessment

Diagnosing mental health disorders can be difficult - especially for children. This is due to a variety of factors that can affect a child’s moods and behaviors: physical health problems, experiences in their homes or at school, mental health disorders, etc. For this reason, a mental health evaluation and/or assessment is often essential to understanding each individual’s unique challenges and how best to help him or her.

During the mental health evaluation and/or assessment, a Child Guidance & Family Solutions therapist will gather information needed to make an accurate diagnosis and provide recommendations for the most appropriate treatment. Most evaluations and/or assessments take place in one of our five offices, but some may take place at a child’s school or a physician’s office.
