Group Counseling

Group therapy in a safe, supportive & confidential environment for sharing common experiences.

Group of teenagers in a support group

CG&FS therapists and therapeutic behavioral support (TBS) specialists lead group sessions designed to address common issues experienced by a particular age group. Group sessions offer an opportunity for participants to listen to each other and openly provide each other with feedback.

These open interactions are an opportunity for you to increase understanding, try out new ways of being with others and learn more about the ways to interact and share your feelings.

What You Can Expect with Group Counseling

Our group therapy sessions provide a safe, supportive and confidential environment in which to share your experiences. You will find understanding and encouragement from peers facing similar issues and gain different perspectives, ideas and viewpoints. We offer groups for different age ranges on a variety of topics, including:

  • Life transitions
  • Social and friendship skills
  • Coping strategies
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for high-risk behaviors

The content of the group sessions is confidential; members agree not to identify other members or their concerns outside of group.

Mental Health Evaluation & Assessment

We fully evaluate an individual’s unique challenges to provide the best help possible.

Diagnosing mental health disorders can be difficult. Many things can affect an individual’s mood and behaviors: physical health problems, experiences in their homes, school, or at work, developmental issues and more. For this reason, a mental health evaluation and/or assessment is often essential to understanding an individual’s unique challenges and how best to provide help.

What You Can Expect During Evaluation and Assessment

During the mental health evaluation or assessment, a Child Guidance & Family Solutions therapist will gather information needed to make an accurate diagnosis and provide recommendations for the most appropriate treatment.

Most evaluations and assessments take place in one of our four offices, but can also take place at a child’s school, a physician’s office or in the community. We also conduct substance abuse evaluations.
