World Mental Health Day is October 10th!

The goal of World Mental Health Day is to raise awareness of mental health issues worldwide and mobilize efforts in support of mental health. It was first observed on October 10th, 1992, and continues to be commemorated every year on this date.

This year, the theme for World Mental Health Day is "Access to Services: Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies." According to the World Federation for Mental Health, approximately 100 million people worldwide were affected by disaster events in 2020. Such events can cause significant stress, especially for vulnerable groups, with nearly one-third of those affected potentially experiencing severe mental health consequences.

Here are some ideas for how you can celebrate World Mental Health Day this year! We encourage you to participate in these activities and share your experiences to help raise awareness about mental health:

- Get certified in mental health first aid.

- Read books or articles about mental health.

- Use your social media platforms to advocate for mental health.

- Engage in self-care practices.

- Listen to a podcast about mental health.

- Share mental health resources with friends and family.

- Donate to or volunteer for organizations that promote mental health.

- Check in with loved ones.

- Use a mental health app like Finch, Calm, or Headspace.

Remember, World Mental Health Day is on October 10th. Join us in raising awareness about this critical global event!
